Constructed – Semi Urban Living – Warranwood, outer east Melbourne

Client Brief: Design a solar passive two storey home with living upstairs in the tree tops, 4 bedrooms, 2+ bathrooms, ground floor rumpus, lightweight cladding and opposing skillion roof. Undertake a Life Cycle Assessment to minimise environmental footprint of the home and its operation.

Sustainable features include: solar passive designed with living areas facing north, reused timber flooring, LED lighting, solar hot water (evacuated tubes), 2Kw photovoltaic panels, ventilation system in roof, reverse cycle ceiling fans, double glazed windows, exposed concrete slab in living area for thermal mass, awnings, wide eaves on north, 15,000 rainwater tank and plumbing for future greywater, efficient reverse cycle airconditioner.

Liveable: Laundry chute and wide distance between kitchen cabinetry. Designed with two separate living areas for multigenerational living.
